From dogs, cats, and guinea pigs to goats, sheep, chickens, ferrets, goldfish, snakes and more - when we connect with an animal, it's truly special. My pastel portraits are all about capturing that special connection, and creating colourful, light-filled paintings to inspire that warm fuzzy feeling.
1. Send across your reference photos
Getting to know who I'm drawing is the loveliest part for me, and I think is really important for achieving a painterly piece that shines with personality. When creating pastel portraits from photographs, I like to have three clear and well-lit photos of each subject where possible.
2. I'll get to work on your commission piece
Once your deposit is paid, a space is reserved in my calendar. Depending on size, detail, the number of subjects, and the time of year - it can take up to three weeks for me to complete.
3. Pop in a frame, hang on the wall and enjoy!
Personalised artwork makes for fantastic bespoke gifts, whether that's for yourself or for someone special. A totally unique piece, created to raise smiles and display special memories.
A 50% deposit is payable before I start work on your piece. When I've finished, I'll send you a photo for your final approval. Once you confirm that you're happy, the final balance will be payable before your pastel portrait is shipped to you or available for collection.
A4 - 21 cm x 30 cm
from £197.00
Due to the smaller size, A4 is only suitable for single portraits.
A3 - 30cm x 42cm
from £257.00
A3 is perfect for a 2 pet portrait, 3 pet portrait, or larger single portraits in more detail.
A2 - 42cm x 60cm
from £347.00
Its larger size makes A2 brilliant for 4+ pet portraits, dramatic single portraits, or sweeping wide angle landscapes.
* A note on pricing
It's important to note that these prices are just a guide, and based on having clear, in-focus reference photos available.
We can work together to create your dream picture. For example, if you have a great photograph of your dog but you would like me to add in his favourite toy and a detailed background of your favourite bluebell walk, I would love to do that for you - get in touch and let's have a chat about ways we can personalise your piece.
Reference photos
For each pet portrait I ask to be sent at least three photos, although the more the merrier! Getting to know your pet is a really important part of my artistic process, in fact - probably the most important! Finding out about your dog's love of stealing socks, how there's a dip in your sofa where your cat has curled up for the last decade, or how your horse befriended the alpacas in the next field to engineer an escape attempt really helps me to immortalise their mischief, laughter, and love in pastels.
If you don't have any photos suitable, please don't panic! I've written a guide on how to take great pet portrait photos that can be used as references, or, if you live within 30 miles of Blandford Forum, I can come and meet you and your pet and take some photos myself for a small additional cost.
For people, one really clear shot, or two shots ensuring one has a very clear view of their eyes is great.
Additional prints
Sometimes with special pieces, others would like a copy. If this is the case, this can absolutely be arranged up to a year after your piece has left my studio.

A2: £47.00

How long does it take you to complete a commission?
This entirely depends. An A3 drawing of a single pet could take me a few days, whereas a larger image containing multiple animals and a detailed background could take longer.
If you're looking to commission a piece for a special occasion, I would recommend getting in touch with me around 8 weeks before you need it if possible.
How does my pastel portrait come packaged?
Each pastel portrait will be mounted in an acid-free mount and packaged in its own cellophane bag, before being wrapped in tissue paper and placed in its own special presentation box. That way, whether the painting is for you or for someone else as a special gift, it's both a treat to open, and ready to frame.
How much does postage cost?
I offer free postage across the UK. International postage fees vary.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! International orders will be subject to additional postage fees, but I'd love to see my work jet setting round the globe.
What sized frame do I need to buy for my art?
Wherever possible, I try and use standard-sized mounts so that you can purchase off-the-shelf frames, and start enjoying your art work straight away.
As a general rule:
Bigger pieces and those with custom dimensions (e.g. If you would like three pets all in a row) will be discussed from the outset, and will likely need to be taken to a professional framer for both mounting and framing.
Will it be shared on social media?
I retain the copyright of all of my work, and I will share pet portraits as part of my portfolio. Any work featuring recognisable faces I will seek permission to share, and it's important to note that if it is purchased as a gift - I won't share until the recipient has had a chance to open it.
I need a special gift at short notice, can you help?
It entirely depends what I have booked in, so if you do need something at short notice please do get in touch and I'll see what I can do!
What if I don't like it?
Once a commission is completed, I will send you a photo of it. This is your chance to let me know if you think it needs tweaking. I will only raise the final invoice once you're happy.
